Tak Sakaguchi Joins the War!From episode 41, the person to play the strongest and most mysterious boss, Nogi Reiji, is Tak Sakaguchi. As he has proved with roles in such films as Versus and Azumi, he is an actor who can really move. Here, too, we have that expectation. Once enrolled in the JAC, nowadays he has reached the levels of action direction (for instance, in Akihabara@ DEEP), he is Japan’s representative action star. Given that, it is his desire to fire off his as-bloody-as-it-gets action… but, fortunately, total transformation is the fate of this television program. Sakaguchi himself noted, “[Because when I transform I don’t do my own action] this doesn’t even feel like work! I really must apologize…” The so-called Real Action of real-hitting is Sakaguchi’s selling point. In the beginning, it seemed like it was hard to come together with the amazing suit-actors, but, everyone, Sakaguchi’s action was a serious motivation for us. However, if you turn your head to look over the shoulder of the actor playing Kabuto…
…there’s a whole hand to hand fighting family there too (!) Beginning with Sakaguchi:
Mr. Yamaguchi Yoshiyuki (originally JAC)
Mr. Tokuyama Hidenori (boxing)
Ketaros (from the film):
Mr. Kôga Mitsuki (originally a professional boxer)
Caucasus (from the film):
Mr. Musashi (discovered as a K-1 fighter)
Somehow, it seems that all these members have made distinctly awesome action films!
Some of this may be confusing if you haven’t followed the Kamen Rider Kabuto series and film. There are a number of good English-language resources if you want to learn more, including the omnipresent Wikipedia and DramaWiki, run by d-addicts. Basically, the end of the article is noting that a lot of the non-suit actors (for the series and film) are also strong physical fighters.
